San Francisco | French Soul Food Brunch

Saturday, August 26, 2017

San Francisco is delicious food mecca. It is difficult to pick just one favorite restaurant. I have this secret foodie fantasy, though, to eat at Brenda's French Soul Food every single day and stuff myself with po' boys and a flight of beignets. Of course, I would end up obese and possibly dead (but happy) because almost everything at Brenda's is fried and super-rich. *salivating*

Brenda's is among my most favorite places to indulge my guiltiest food pleasure. Located in the Tenderloin neighborhood in SF, Brenda's serves Southern French soul food. Imagine how excited I got when I went to a friend's brunch party and the food was catered by Brenda's! *secretly doing a happy dance*

Remember the beignet flight that I mentioned earlier? First of all, a beignet is a deep-fried choux pastry, aka donuts to us Americans. The beignet flight at Brenda's includes a plain beignet in powdered sugar, a chocolate-filled with molten Ghirardelli chocolate, a granny smith apple and crawfish beignet oozing with cheese, big pieces of crawfish and dusted with cayenne pepper. Be still my heart!

What greeted me was a table laden with chocolate beignets, crawfish beignets and bread pudding with caramel sauce -- all from Brenda's. There were also  trays of breakfast potatoes and scrambled eggs. With coffee and all these all-you-can-eat Southern deliciousness, and being surrounded by friendly people around me, it was one fine morning in San Francisco.

Here is a post of our afternoon date  at Brenda's.  I  will always find an excuse to go back to Brenda's.
