Girls Who Lunch | Wine and Tapas at Coco Cabana

Sunday, December 9, 2018

Every December (sometimes we go in November if we plan ahead), my girlfriend Jax and I do our annual all day holiday outlet shopping spree at the San Francisco Premium Outlets. It is an all day/shop-till-you-drop affair. We go from around 9 am until 6 pm, pretty much until we cannot feel our legs anymore.

And every year, we have our lunch at Coco Cabana. It was just a random restaurant that I found on Yelp about 3 years ago while looking for a place to eat and to take a break from shopping. It fits the bill for a nice lunch venue for girls day. And for  the last 3 years Jax and I have been coming here to have a glass of wine and eat tapas. Coco Cabana is a Latin restaurant with a nice classy/chic/loungey ambiance -- white table cloths and leather chair and all! Almost every year Jax and I are entertained by the office holiday lunches that are held at this restaurant that included a round of Secret Santas. This year we opted to sit away from the merry-makers as we wanted to catch up on what's what.

It is funny that looking at my photos all the way back to 2015, we order the same things every year!  Except this year, we pared down because we realized that our eyes are really just bigger than our stomach and we could not eat half the food that we order.

These pictures are from our lunch in 2016 but you will not be able to tell the difference looking at our eats through the years. We always get the following:
  •  Jalapeno-Artichoke Dip served with warm pita OR
  •  Hummus Con Chiles (These are Jax's choices)
  •  Patatas Bravas (I dream of these days before our shopping spree)
  •  Coconut Shrimp
In the past we had tried the Loaded Guac, Baked Goat Cheese, Spicy Ceviche Tigre, Crab Cakes, Steak Tacos, Platanos and Brussels Fritos. Well, let us just say that we had pretty much devoured more than half the menu.

I also always get a glass of wine while Jax opts out since drinking alcohol in the day time makes her sleepy. We do not want that because after our delicious lunch, we go back to the outlets and REPEAT!

I am happy that I am finally able to write about our lunch. I am few years behind but it is great to look back and remember the meals that we have had at Coco Cabana. The latest one was just this week on December 6, just mere 3 days ago but the photos here are a combination of our lunches in 2015 - present. I am already dreaming of our next girls lunch here (and outlet shopping!).
