Oakland | Noodle Theory

Saturday, October 14, 2017

I was surprised when Mr Sweetie said that he wanted to eat noodles for date night.  Italian pastas are okay in his book but Asian noodles are not really his thing.

He said that at he remembers when I took him to Noodle Theory few years ago one cold winter night when he was very sick with a cold. He liked his noodles.

We returned for date night last Saturday. It was a beautiful fall day. We got there at 4:30 pm before the restaurant opens at 5 pm. Noodle Theory is located in the lovely Rockridge neighborhood where  cute bakeries, flower shops, boutiques etc line the street. We decided to go for a stroll first to look at Halloween displays.  Here is my post  on our Halloween stroll.

We returned to Noodle Theory and had an enjoyable dinner.

  • Mr Sweetie ordered the Garlic Noodles with Duck Breast $16.
  • I had the Ground Niman Ranch Pork in a Spicy Bean Sauce over Noodles $11
  • For appetizers we shared the Braised Short Ribs $10
  • We were also given a complimentary edamame

Verdict is that we both enjoyed our dinner. The ribs were very delicious, flavorful and very tender. I liked Mr Sweetie's garlic noodles better than my order. My noodles were still good, though. Portions were generous while prices were very reasonable. I did not get to finish my food that I took it to lunch on Monday and ate the sauce over rice as well as the rib.

Check was $60 including 2 sodas for Mr Sweetie, tax and 20% tip.

We will definitely be back next time we get another hankering for carby yummy noodles.
