Bay Area | Fall Brunch at Huckleberry's

Thursday, November 1, 2018

Before going to the Pumpkin Patch, Mr Sweetie and I went to a Saturday brunch first at Huckleberry's. (Check out our fun afternoon at the Pumpkin Patch here.)

Huckleberry's was a random find. After waiting for 30 minutes, we had a very enjoyable meal. I was expecting a generic diner type restaurant with the usual suspects such as pancakes and omelets. Instead, they had unusual dishes that piqued our palates such such the Mardi Gras Beignets and my own order of Crab Cakes Benedict.

These were what we had:

Mardi Gras Beignets: Fried fritters filled with vanilla cream and served with huckleberry, strawberry and peach topping and dusted with powdered sugar. $5.69

Crab Cakes Benedict:  Two crab cakes topped with poached eggs atop English muffins. I asked for the hollandaise on the side. They also came with red potatoes. $11.79

Chicken Fried Steak: With eggs, country red potatoes and muffin. $11.99

The portions were humongous and the dishes were yummy. The beignets were not authentic Southern-style. These were more like donuts but they were so good with coffee. And real crabs! Not those imitation ones. (I asked first.)

We were stuffed and I had to take half my brunch home with me. We drove to the Pumpkin Patch that was just less than 10 miles away on a country road  all satisfied and with happy tummies. Huckleberry's was not bad at all being a chain, although a small one. We might just go back next time we hit up Larry's Produce where the pumpkin patch was located.

And most of all, have you noticed the prices? This place is cheap! Being from the part of the Bay Area where everything is so spendy, Huckleberry's prices were unbelievable!
