San Francisco Restaurant Week 2019: Myriad San Francisco

Tuesday, February 5, 2019

After the holiday festivities are over and the dreariness of winter sets in, BFF and I eagerly await Restaurant Week every January. It gives us something delicious and fun to look forward to in the middle of the cold winter.

Our restaurant choice for this year was Myriad Gastropub in San Francisco. We chose wisely! For $25 (before tax and tip), we had a choice of a snack, small plate, entree and dessert.  This is one of the best choices among the participating restaurants as we got 4 courses compared to 3 offerings or even just 2 at many of the other restaurants for the same price!

BFF and I  tried both items in each course to share so we could try every tidbit. Here were our choices:

SNACKS
  • I chose the deviled eggs with salsa verde, radish and shallot
  • BFF chose the pot o' pickled veggies

SMALL PLATES
  • I chose the chicken-liver mousse crostinis with port-wine onions
  • BFF went for the popped elote which is a buttered popcorn with chili, lime, cotija cheese
MAINS
  • BFF and I both ordered roasted chicken salad with watercress, frisée, apples, croutons, walnuts, blue cheese, whole grain mustard dressing. (The two other choices were oxtail posole and bbq pulled pork.)
DESSERT
  •  Two bellwether ricotta zeppole with bourbon caramel sauce

Everything we had was delicious! And we left the restaurant satisfied. (We laughed at remembering our other RW lunches in previous years where the portions were so small that we had to eat again because we were still hungry!) It was one of the best Restaurant Week lunches at Myriad's that we had in the 9 years that we have been participating in RW.  It used to be called Dine About Town before it was changed to Restaurant Week. What a delicious foodie journey it has been! Restaurant Week is one of traditions of our friendship. I am so blessed to have my BFF as my foodie buddy all these years. As always we caught up and talked about life over courses of delicious meals. We talked about our life and friendship through the years. I told her about my recent trip to Seattle and gave her a jam and chocolate from the trip. And as always she spoils me. She gave me a pig mug for the Year of the Pig, moon cake and cute note for Lunar New Year.

It was such a sweet lunch although short as always which always happens whenever we were having fun.  Unfortunately for her, she had to leave before dessert arrived which I got to take back to work with me. Those donut holes with caramel sauce were divine! I owe her donut holes as I got her portion. We are planning to go back again and try their cocktails and other dishes. Myriad is located in the Mission neighborhood of San Francisco. Ambiance is laid-back, casual and fun.
