Travel: Vegas, Baby!

Some of my friends got it. Some did not when I told them that I would/I could only stay in Vegas for one night -- when I was given a tempting opportunity for one more night in Sin City. All expense paid. Yes, everything, and it meant airfare, transportation, fancy hotels and meals. And I said, "no, thanks."

Las Vegas is too overwhelming for me. I can only take it in small doses. When I had to go there for work, I chose to enjoy it fully but in just one tiny bite -- just one night.

I chose to stay at the Bellagio where I enjoyed soaking in the jet tub more than walking on the strip. Before that I had a nice dinner with colleagues at Mon Ami Gabi, a French restaurant inside Paris LV.  Then I chose to shop instead of gamble. (I got a pair of really cute Chinese Laundry sandals on sale -- WIN!) I feasted my eyes on the Dancing Fountain and took a stroll at Bellagio's Conservatory Garden before I called it a night.

I did my presentation the next day where it well-received. We brought down the house, thank you very much! My team mate and I celebrated over a  simple but delicious Thai lunch with our generous host. I asked to be taken to the airport right after where I scored an early flight. I was home in the Bay Area by 7pm like during a regular work day instead of 10:30 pm. (Another win!)

It was a whirlwind of two days and one decadent evening -- short, sweet, delicious, exciting and exhilarating. Work colleagues became friends. Intimidating moments became moments of adrenaline-pumping triumph after a successful presentation where hard work and courage royally paid off, and where I delivered my heart to the crowd. And I did not fail them, or myself. I win.

That, my dear, is my definition of WINNING in Vegas.
