The location of my birthday dinner was supposed to be a surprise. But I guessed it before we went there. (Sorry, Mr Sweetie!) He told me that he is taking me to a steak and seafood restaurant in San Jose. All I had to do was Google the restaurants in Silicon Valley that serve steak and lobster. And I guessed it right -- McCormick and Schmick's! Just a good guess on my part.
We arrived in San Jose almost an hour early for our dinner reservation. It was perfect because we got to sit at the bar and enjoy a drink while waiting for our table. I had a Prosecco Sangria while he had a Moscow Mule.
I really enjoyed my birthday dinner. It was a true indulgence for me to feast on high-fat/high-calorie steak and lobster. It was no guilt for me as I have decided to enjoy every bite of my food. This is one of the best decisions that I have made for myself on my birthday and the rest of my life. I am calling this my "birthday resolution". It does not mean that I will be eating artery-clogging, super-unhealthy food from then on. I will just stop the decade old habit of emotional flagellation every time I put something in my mouth. I had to remind myself that I am really a pretty healthy and sensible eater for the most part.
Anyway, back to my birthday meal -- my steak and lobster were delicious. Specifically, I had the Tender Beef Medallions served in Bordelaise Sauce, potato wedges and Twin Steam Lobster Tails. Of course, anything cooked in butter is delicious! Mr Sweetie ordered a Ribeye with a side of lobster. The oven-hot bread with butter was so delicious as well that we had a few basket of those!
The dessert completed my birthday meal. It is important to me to blow a birthday candle on my birthday and make a wish. I was surprised with a Creme Brulee with squirly "Happy Birthday" written in chocolate. I had fun taking tons of pictures even before I blew the candle and ate the dessert. Mr Sweetie had a Strawberry Cheesecake.
M and S is a chain all over the US. Ambiance and decor were dark and casual/semi-formal.
It was a perfect dinner for my special day. It was a cold evening in Downtown San Jose but a clear and nice evening.
For Birthday Dinner Part 2, Mr Sweetie gifted me with another special Napa Wine Train Dinner. I will cash out once the beautiful spring weather arrives.
I am grateful to my Mr Sweetie for this beautiful evening and delicious birthday meal that we both enjoyed. It was perfect just like how I wanted my birthday dinner to be.
