My Life In The San Francisco Bay Area | February 2019

Rain. Chinese New Year. Rain. Valentines Day. More rain. My Birthday. It stopped raining on that day. (Thank you, Lord!). Then STORM! More storm. And rain. And more rain.

February was definitely pouring down with lots of rain and hail where I live. It even snowed in parts of California where it does not usually snow. Thankfully fun times with BFF and family poured down with it.

CHINESE NEW YEAR

I did not get to take pictures of Chinese Lanterns along Market Street in Downtown San Francisco unlike the previous years. I will blame it on the rain. I really just stayed mostly indoors because of the super-grouchy weather.  It was home to work to home in the storm. Lucky me, BFF never miss a chance to celebrate a holiday. She gave me these Chinese New Year goodies when I saw her during Restaurant Week on January 30.   She got me the cutest pig mug for Year of the Pig, a mooncake and a Chinese envelope where she tucked in sweet NY wishes.

GALENTINE'S WITH BFF

Our museum date at SFMOMA was our Galentine's celebration. As always she spoils me with the cutest -- see the pretty dishes above (which now hold my car keys and badge in my office), a chocolate and heart candle. I am so loved and blessed to have my BFF in my life! (I gave her chocolate from my trip from Seattle, a cheesy romance novel (as a gag gift), etc.

ROMANTIC VALENTINE'S

As always Mr Sweetie lived up to his name on Valentine's Day. To recap  V Day 2019, we had a romantic Valentine-themed dinner with church friends (and double-date with my brother and sis-in-law) at Old Spaghetti Factory.  Then on the actual day, a bouquet of succulent fruits and a box of chocolate-dipped strawberries were waiting for me. I also hosted a sweet, platonic Heart Day for single peeps. I wrote about it here.

BIRTHDAY GIRL CELEBRATES

I was serious when I said that I will celebrate my birthday year-round. I mean, why pack it all in in one day when you can celebrate the entire year?!  I have yet to write about the actual day which was PERFECTION! It was a simple day of "me day" but the sweetest because I got to do what I wanted to do exactly on my special day while Mr Sweetie had to be away on a business trip. As much as I missed him, I  was gifted a day of serenity and contemplation. On my birthday weekend, he took me to a lovely  birthday steak and lobster dinner at McCormick's and Schmick's. As I am writing this in March, more celebrations continue on as hosted by Mr Sweetie and my family. It seems like I am getting my wish of being able to celebrate my birthday year round. In the meantime, I was so inspired about this year that I wrote this piece about me -- dedicated to yours truly for being gifted so many beautifully blessed years on this earth. Yes, I Am A Beautiful Work In Progress.

FAMILY & FRIENDS

One of my joys this month (as always!) is being able to spend time with my family. After church and shopping, I went to my brother and SIL's house and I got fed this fish and garlic rice. I also got to see my uncle which I have not seen in a while. That was a treat. Then my SIL gave me Kare-Kare (oxtail in peanut sauce) which I ate for 3 days! I was in heaven!

My friend Karen and I also got to catch up over lunch at Hayes Valley Bakeworks. It was a cold day and I had vegan carrot soup with bread. Always so nice to catch up with her. We have known each other for 10 years. She is my mentor and she has seen me "grow up".

February has been a super-awesome month! Yes, because I was born in this month -- the month of love. And I have been so loved by God, my Mr Sweetie, my family and friends. I also found a love that I have been struggling to all my love -- the love and acceptance of me. I finally embrace me -- the real raw beautiful fierce gentle one of a kind me.

 Cheers, February!

Cheers to to life, to love, to dreams, to possibilities, to all my loves, to me.
Thank you for being a very special this year that I will remember for a very long time!

 Welcome, March!
